spring.... brings good and bad

spring has been really pretty this year - i'm sad that the flowering trees are nearly done. i wish that could last for 2 months or something -everything smells good and is so colorful. it gives off such a feeling of happiness just to be outside.

on to birds...
i watched march of the penguins on friday, and was just utterly amazed at what these birds go through. and it totally broke my heart whenever they died, or froze, rather. which brings me to geese. because there are tons of geese around here, many nesting in parking lots or on road medians. on the corner of naperville and diehl there is a geese family now with 5 babies. and as much as i love how cute the babies are, i dread driving past there and seeing one day that there are only 3 babies, or one....

i have geese nesting in back of my place on the pond. i can't wait til the eggs hatch, it looks like there are about 6. it'll be awesome to watch the little geese playing in the pond and coming to my patio to get seed. but i also know i'll be devastated if i have to watch these geese grow - and die off... even as juvenilles... grrrr. i'm not always good about taking the bad with the good. and with nature, it just seems a little unfair.
