a comedy of errors

late last week Brooke called me and asked if i would like to go downtown on Friday night to see A Comedy of Errors at the Shakespeare Theater. i was tired, it had been a long week, and i had been planning on just crashing on friday night. not to mention continue the epic unpacking. so i hemmed and hawwed with an “eh, i don’t know (said very whinily) and then more pauses, and whining, and Brooke was clearly annoyed with me and said “c’mon, it’s Shakespeare.” To which i feebly replied, “can i call you back in a little bit?”

Afterwards i called my mom and relayed what just happened. I said “Brooke wants me to go see Shakespeare.” From the tone i had i might as well have said, “Brooke wants me to go eat a bucket of worms.” But my mom answered, “well that sounds like fun.” (not about the worms bit though) “i guess.” “is it at Navy Pier? Because that’s a great theater” and then it slowly dawned on me. It would be fun. and hey, i like shakespeare. i immediately called back Brooke and said:

“i just talked to my evil twin, and she told me that you called, and she answered the phone and was all like ‘i’m not gonna go see shakespeare,” and i said “bitch!” and then knew i had to call you right away. because i would love to go”

and so we went. and it was awesome. fabulous. hilarious, and perfectly just what i needed to stimulate my brain a little bit. and seeing a play like that reminded me ever so slightly of being in college, or at least, of feeling like me.
to be added: the whoopee cushion bit.
