whirlwind weekend
i suppose it's a little sad to wake up at 9 am on a sunday morning and feel pride and accomplishment, because you cannot rememeber the last time you slept that late. as if 9 were late. i could have used a sleep til about, oh, now, and it's 6:30 pm or so. ok, i exaggerate.
friday night i ended up in champaign, an unexpected surprise. even though it's changing as the years go by, it's still such a comfortable place for me. still a home away from home. and as will invariably happen, crissy and chuck and i found ourselves at the union, bowling (with their friends dave and andrew). i was upset that i had on no clothes which could be fantastically transformed by the black lights. boo. i also maintain that my scores remained below 100 due to the absence of alcohol. it's amazing what a good mike's can do for your bowling game. instead i resorting to what i will call "burling." it's bowling, but you have to hurl the ball halfway down the lane before it touches. i thought perhaps the earthquake-sized shockwaves might knock the pins down, but to no avail. afterwards it was over to murphys (yay!) for drinkage. i'll tell ya though, smirnoff ice's don't sit well with me - just give me a good mike's!
...like on saturday! when i went downtown with Colleen and Eliott to Rock Bottom and then to Howl at the Moon for their friend Monica's birthday. woah, i actually capitalized all those. (checks forehead for temperature) my chicken fried chicken (i'm sorry i just don't get that) was especially yummy at dinner. the bar was alright. i hadn't been there before. i like the whole pianos-gig, but it was too old-school for me. cuz i'm just not all about old-school. but with each passing mike's the evening became more enjoyable. (i'm also not sure just why it was so hilarious for colleen and i to pass each other notes as if we were in high school) but as it was, it was the most buzzed i'd been in a loooong while. i'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not, or what that says about my current social state... regardless, it was a great time... an awesome weekend... that has really left me not ready for a monday... at least i have the 3 hour abc lineup this evening to get ready for my week, clean a bit, and get some more work done...
