new old music

i have been known to buy a cd for one song only – usually because that song is in my head. to cure this, i will then play said song over and over until i can manage to get it out of my head. strange, i know, but it works for me. in order for me to listen to the other songs on the cd (which i’ve never heard before), i pretty much need to be hooked in the first 3 seconds or so. if not, i flip to the next song, and i usually don’t go back. until later. much later. in this case, well over a year. 18 months i’d say, that i’ve had this cd and haven’t really heard 11 of the 12 songs. finally, yesterday, desperate for some new tunes, but having no cash for the new shakira cd that would have been the quick fix, i had the patience to sit through the entire guster cd. and am now in love with it and have been playing it over and over for 2 days straight. i actually played one song repeatedly maybe 30 times? um, in a row. what can i say? it’s just what i do when a song has that certain something. (as frannie can attest with the whole shalim-ann arbor weekend) i’m insane. i fully admit this. but i love it.
