surprise!

i’m only 1 day in and 26 is shaping up great. : ) I got a phone call last night at ten to nine from frannie. i asked if i could call her back in like, ten minutes. she asked, “why? are you having cake?” and i said yes, actually we were about to have cake. she replied, “alright, i just have something important to tell you, can you step outside for a minute?” this did not seem a terribly odd request to me... since i get virtually no reception for my cell in the house – so in my mind i thought ‘it must be important enough that she doesn’t want to get cut off mid-sentence.’ she said “ok, are you outside?” “yeah...” “good! me too!” at which point there was much SCREAMING and LAUGHING and CRYING and HUGGING as frannie was THERE! in my driveway! it was such a shock! and surprise! i thought she was out on the west coast in washington, especially since i knew her internship there didn’t end for another week. fue fabuloso. we got to chill and hang out for an hour or two, and then she had to be on her way down to argonne. it always feels just like being me when i’m around frannie.
