only elephants never forget

.... and we’re no elephants.

some think this is bush's personal war on terror.... but madrid was bombed last year, london yesterday, who's next? it really is everybody's problem. it's just the whole 'pearl harbor' attitude..... nobody's going to do anything about it until it hits them directly. i mean, we waited two years after the invasion of poland before we decided to ante up.

i've been noticing how complacent i feel lately towards the war in iraq. and i know everyone around here is just getting tired of it. but i think that's a real problem. at this point, it doesn't matter whether or not i agree with our occupation of iraq.

the focus now needs to be on cleaning up the mess. regardless of whether of not we should be there, we need to finish what we started. the US has a bad habit of trying to fix things but pulling out before the country is back on it's feet (vietnam, korea, somalia...) i think that habit is a direct result of the American people's loss of interest over time, when they then complain that everything is taking too long. it's not the same mindset today as it was in september 4 years ago. we said then we'd never forget. but we have.... because the people got bored. disinterested. me included. but i wonder if i would feel that way had i lost a loved one at the world trade center. like mom or dad. history repeats itself because people f-ing forget. that’s a liberty i wish we didn’t have.

Such a difference between thursday and friday entries - right on geo-sista is all i've got to say. I think it is human condition, most unfortunately. The same can be said about natural disaster relief following the tsunami - out of sight - out of mind - and there is still years to go before buildings, and more importantly lives, can be considered to be 'rebuilt'... thanks for sharing, yo.
