alright already!

by tomorrow it should be official, i’ll be out of my apartment by july 15th. in early june i found i had the option to break my lease on my apartment – thereby forcing me to think and decide what to do rather than just sit around for a couple of months (til oct. 31). I thought maybe i would go early, but at the end of august, or some such date where i would have time to enjoy a full summer in my apartment. you know, stay there 12 months instead of the 14 on my lease. the following week, however, contained a series of events that significantly changed my thinking....

it had been hot already, but only for 2 days or so, so it didn’t really affect me in terms on my only-have-crappy-window-unit-air-conditioner-apartment. plus i had been in the field so anything seemed cooler than wearing a fur coat directly under the burning sun (see june 9th entry) as it was going to continue to be hot, however, on a monday morning i lugged the window unit out of storage and set it up in the living room. monday night i close up all the windows, turn on the fans and the window unit. it ran all night and it never got cooler in the apartment, unless you were standing directly in front of the living room window... wednesday night, i get home, and my wonderful fantasticly free full cable of 9 months was GONE. gone gone gone. no more history channel, no more animal planet, no more disney channel, no more tbs or even freakin 2,5,7,9.... ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! i figure it must have been connected to the apartment next to mine, since the girl had moved out the week before. so i dug out the rabbit ears, except that i couldn’t find the adapter. no electricity, no tv. NO TV. i’ve lived that way for a month and a half now. thank the lord for dvds. thursday, again extremely hot, gini came over. we went out for dinner and a walk, and i decided to let the air conditioner run while we were gone- thinking ‘surely it will cool the place now, i’ll have it on for a few hours, come back n it’ll be nice n cool.’ we come back after a nice time out..... and the power is out. so it was boiling in my place since none of the fans were on and all the windows had been closed. we were sitting in the living room lit with battery-operated lightning bugs in a jar, and i said ‘so do you think it’s time for me to move out?’ (the power came on about a half hour later) then friday, i get a notice that everything in my storage unit needs to be moved to a different one by monday because the electricians need to get into mine.... enough!!!! ok,ok, i’ll leave.

I thought i had to give 30 days notice, so i was planning on the end of July, but this week when i called back there were eager to get me out by the 15th. and in doing so i can save $400.... so.... i might as well. it’ll be a crazy two weeks for me...
