sneaking

As some of you know.... they are kicking me out of my apartment in November, as all the apartments are being converted into condos. So slowly, as people’s leases run out, my building is becoming a ghost town. And then as people leave the apartments are being renovated. Right now the one directly across from me is being worked on (the building is in a U shape). I could see from my dining room window that the back door was open last night after the workers were gone. And as it was still open this morning when i woke up, i decided to go and sneak in and take a peek before work.

they’ve put in granite countertops, new appliances, expensive-looking cabinets, some fancy light fixtures, a new bathtub and sink, lots of slate-esque tile in the kitchen and bathroom, new doors, and painted the walls nice warm colors. However, the crappy painted-over-6-million times crown molding around the ceiling in the living room is still there and unchanged. It looks like they’ve refinished the hardwood floor, but it’s still squeaky as shit. ooh, i didn’t think to look at the radiators, i know they did something with those... but there is still no washer/dryer in the unit, no air conditioning, not even a freakin’ garbage disposal. no.... it really doesn’t seem worth the 167K they’re asking for 800 sqft. in an 80 year old building- especially since everytime i shower there is an inch and a half of standing water. But it still pisses me off that I’m being kicked out. Who knows where i’ll end up........
